Today, the use of energy dampers in buildings to deal with earthquakes is increasing, among them, mass dampers are more useful due to their simple technology. Usually, the use of a mass damper in the roof floor or the uniform distribution of several dampers in the floors is not associated with optimal reduction of displacement and acceleration. One of the most effective parameters in determining the optimal position of mass dampers at height is the optimal characteristics of dampers, which are discussed in this research. In this regard, three determining parameters in the characteristics of mass dampers were investigated in a way that control the seismic responses of the structure optimally by distributing them at height of the structure. The acceleration and displacement of the roof floor is considered as a target for optimization, for this purpose, multiple mass dampers in the 20-story structure are optimized with the MOPSO algorithm, and the effect of the soil-structure interaction (SSI) on the seismic response of the structures has been investigated. The results show that the use of mass dampers in the optimal position in the floors of the structure (MTMD) in comparison to without dampers (Bare) has reduced the seismic response of the structures. Besides, the interaction of soil and structure to the structures optimized with dampers were considered. This state (MTMD-Soil) has caused changes in the seismic response of the structure depending on the frequency content of the earthquake.
