One of the main important rainfall related studies is preparation of Huff curves and design hyetographs. These curves help decision makers in understanding temporal characteristics of rainfall, which in turn can help efficient management of water resources. In this study, the four stations selected in the Khuzestan province located in southwest of Iran for analysis. The total number of storms analyzed in the present study is equal to 1273. These storms classified into the five different classes based on duration time of rainfalls. Analysis conducted for the storms of different seasons, separately. Firstly, the Huff curves for each of the classes in different seasons plotted for each of the stations. Then, design hyetographs extracted from them for each of the stations according to the 50% probability curve. It can be concluded that as duration of storms increases the maximum rainfall received to a certain station moves from the second quartile to the third quartile. Furthermore, as duration of storms increases the percent of rainfall received in different time increments tend to be uniform. This is especially true for winter and spring seasons storms. Also, using all the storms of a station in a single class, it can be concluded that pattern of the design hyetograph is became symmetric for all the stations. Furthermore, design hyetographs of the selected stations in the case of short storms skewed pattern and most of them had the second quartile type. In contrast, long time duration storms are generally found to be the third quartile.
