The presence of gypsum and anhydrite in foundations and structures of water structures such as dams, etc. can create problems in terms of stability and bedding. In this study, dissolution of gypsum-containing materials of Marash dam site in Zanjan province in the presence of three different types of solvents (distilled water and river water of Marash dam and distilled water containing 1% sodium chloride) and the influence of various parameters such as relative humidity, porosity and ... The uniaxial compressive strength (UCS) and modulus of elasticity were investigated by preparing 10 gypsum rock samples from the Marash Dam site. The results of dissolution experiments show that the solubility of gypsum materials in solution containing one percent sodium chloride is more than distilled water solution and both are more than Marash dam river water. As the porosity increases, the values of modulus of elasticity and maximum uniaxial compressive strength decrease and the slope of decreasing compressive strength is greater than the percentage of porosity compared to the modulus of elasticity. As the relative density increases, the modulus of elasticity increases and the maximum uniaxial compressive strength decreases and the correlation of the maximum compressive strength to the relative density is greater than the young modulus.
