This research investigates seepage from the body of the Setarakhan Ahar dam using the Flac3D software with the finite difference method. Due to the three-dimensional nature of flow permeability, the behavior of the seepage analysis model was examined in both two-dimensional and three-dimensional modes. In most simulation times, the difference between the minimum and maximum modes reaches 17%, so the water flow vector in the mentioned dam is not parallel to the dam axis and the trend of creating cavity water pressure follows the same approach as the two-dimensional model. The numerical analysis results were compared with the accurate results of the dam and showed a good match, with differences between the model results and readings less than 5%. The main variable in dam seepage analysis is the permeability coefficient of materials, by conducting sensitivity analysis from 0.1 to 10 times the permeability of the core and shell materials, its role in the results and behavior of dam seepage was examined. The results show that the ratio of shell to core permeability is effective in the behavior of dam seepage, as it decreases, the behavior of the dam approaches a uniform and homogeneous state. This is observed well in examining the trend of changes in cavity water pressure in the shell and core while moving from upstream to downstream. With this ratio remaining constant, the seepage pattern in the body does not change, and only the time of creating cavity water pressure changes based on the permeability values of materials.
