In this research, the effect of adverse slope and baffle blocks on hydraulic jump characteristics was investigated. Different baffle block arrangements were tested in adverse slopes of 2.60, 5.20, 7.55%, and horizontal bed, and the results were compared to a stilling basin without baffle blocks. The results showed that the use of baffle blocks in the stilling basin reduces the sequent depth ratio, length of jump ratio, and relative residual energy by an average of 22.12, 35, and 32% compared to the classical jump, respectively. Also, the sequent depth ratio, length of jump ratio and relative residual energy in the adverse slope of 2.60% on average, 72.25, 8.20, and 23.52%; in the adverse slope of 5.20% on average, 44.50, 23.33, and 14.60%; and in the adverse slope of 7.55 percent, 37.44, 42.15 and 32.78%, respectively, compared to the horizontal bed. In general, using both the adverse slope and baffle block caused a reduction in sequent depth ratio, the length of jump ratio, and the relative residual energy of the hydraulic jump. This will make the construction of the stilling basin more economical and control the hydraulic jump better.
