Abstract

Choosing the right contractor is a very important process in construction projects that directly affects the success and progress of the project.Failure to choose the right contractor will cause delays, poor quality, cost increases and even bankruptcy. The evaluation and ranking of contractors is one of the important decisions and is one of the fundamental challenges in construction projects due to the presence of various criteria.the aim of this research is to present a new Marcus decision model for ranking of contractors of construction projects. After identifying the criteria with library studies and using previous research, books and articles and with the consensus of experts, 8 criteria include: financial resources, price, executive and equipment capacity, technical and planning capacity, good track record, key project staff, specialized certification, experience. The Marcus model was also used using the Shannon entropy weighting method to determine the weight of the criteria and then to rank the top ten contractors of construction projects. The criteria for good track record, specialized certification and executive capacity and equipment with weights 1343/0, 1342/0 and 1333/0 are ranked first to third respectively, with the highest weight and the most important criteria. The final ranking results using the Marcus model show that the seventh contractor with a value of 7710/0 is in first place and the second contractor with a value of 7002/0 is in second place and thefirst contractor with a value of 6772/0 is in third placeThe tenth contractor and the ninth contractor were ranked ninth and tenth with values of 5666/0 and 5255/0 respectively.
